Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a Construction National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)?

National Vocational Qualifications are work-based award in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, that are achieved through training and assessment. In Scotland, the equivalent qualifications are known as Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ).

These vocational qualifications form the basis of card holder schemes such as Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Cards.

Construction Development Centre provides a suite of approved NVQ Diplomas aimed at personnel working in the UK Construction Industry.

All our Construction NVQs provide direct access to:

  • Green Labourers CSCS Card
  • Blue Skilled Workers CSCS Card
  • Gold Advanced Trades/Supervisors CSCS Card
  • Black Managers CSCS Card
  • White/Grey Academically Qualified Persons (AQP) CSCS Card

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements. However, potential candidates must be able to demonstrate that they can meet the assessment requirements for their chosen qualification before enrolment.

What are the National Vocational Qualification benefits?

Achievement at any level provides individuals with the opportunity to demonstrate their occupational competence within their area of expertise. Formal qualification can provide individuals with increased work opportunities and the potential increase in your income in the UK.

How are the qualifications being assessed?

We will provide relevant and accurate information about your required NVQ before your enrolment, via our Initial Assessment processes. Our fully qualified, experienced NVQ Assessors will visit each candidate at his workplace to evaluate competence and skills, make observations & assessment decisions and collect the required evidence for creating your NVQ Portfolio.

Disruption to normal work is minimised through our customised planned assessments.

How long does the assessment take?

Construction Development Centre provides Assessor support for a period of up to one year, however, most of our approved Construction NVQs can be easily achievable within a period of one to six months, depending on the motivation of the candidate and his availability to provide work-related evidence for his file.

Do I need to pay for the whole NVQ in advance?

Any qualification in any occupation at Level 2 must be paid in advance at registration, however, we have available Payment Plans for Level 3's - 7's.

Please note: All NVQ Qualifications delivered by Construction Development Centre Ltd. are subject to VAT (Value Added Tax).
